Semeli Red

Wine: Semeli Red

Producer: George Kokotos

Type: Dry Table red wine

Grape Varieties: Agiorgitiko 75%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%

Vineyard: The grapes for this wine are cultivated on the slopes of the Nemea region, above Corinth. This soft, spicy Greek variety is given extra depth and body by the addition of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvest usually takes place between 15th-25th September.

Soil: Limestone

Yield: 60hl/ha with 50hl/ha for C/S

Vinification: Classic method of red vinification. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 25-28°C, while maceration lasts for 8 days. Wine runs off the skins, once fermentation is completed and it is transferred to 225 litre French oak casks for at least a year with a further 6 months bottle ageing before releasing.

Analysis:
Alcohol 12.5%vol.
Total acidity 5.8g/l.
Residual sugar less than 1.0g/l.

Tasting Notes: Deep red colour with bright ruby highlights. A complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, noble spices (cinnamon, carnation, pepper) as well as dry figs and plumps compose a complex and dynamic aromatic character. Full and velvety in the mouth, strongly aromatic with noble soft tannins which are in accordance with the fruit. Serve at 18°C with red juicy meat with spicy sauces as well as with dishes of spicy hams.
